Just the same as Gwenneth, Reyes started his first experience with pureed solid, or rather, mashy liquid at 5 months old!
Mommy was kiasu and went by the "1 week rule" instead of the recommended 4 days, to omit any chance of allergies and monitors the "poo response" to each type of new food in his little body.
First week was plain Healthy Times brown rice cereal. Gwenneth had this for the longest time and I remembered ordering this direct from the supplier when I gave up hunting through every Cold Storage when it was out of stock for a while.
Damn. I should have kept the number. Other options sucks.
Week 2 was brown rice cereal with steamed organic apples!
Week 3 was has usual brown rice cereal with organic carrot.
Week 4 was organic sweet potato.
Reyes did just fine, tasting his every bit of yumminess in his mouth. He opens his mouth eagerly waiting for the next spoonful of goodness and would sometimes stuff the bib or his fist into his mouth to satisfy his taste buds when Mommy feeds too slowly! He would complain and want his next spoonful of cereal FAST!
Each time his cereal is being prepared, Gwenneth would quickly get the purple Bumbo chair and put it against the sofa, right at the spot that i usually feed DiDi, and sits on it. She then demands that she wants to eat cereal too, just like DiDi.
Gwenneth: "OH NO! Didi no space sit. How?"
We all had to coax her out of the chair, or wait till she gets bored of it.
Sometime, Gwenneth would be nice too, telling Didi its cereal time, and then helps with the bib. She makes attempts to feed DiDi too.
She is still a sweet sister afterall.
Mommy is worried that Gwenneth might offer other food to Reyes out of kindness, like raisins or bigger bite size food which make choke him. So from time to time, Daddy and Mommy would ask Gwenneth if DiDi can eat certain food.
Daddy : "DiDi can eat chocolate or not?"
Gwenneth :" Nooo...DiDi..cannot eat "choc-co-lod"... DiDi eat cereal oooonly."
Mommy : "DiDi can eat Play-Doh or not?"
Gwenneth :"Noo..DiDi cannot eat Play-Doooh. Eat already will die!"
We changed a Padeatrician for Reyes as Mommy didnt really like Dr Chan and Dr Lee was way too expensive.
Mommy decided to look for a doctor/clinic which has a convenient location for both the babies. By Alvis's recommendation we decided to see Dr Low at Paragon Medical centre.
Reyes is 67.5cm tall and 8.12kg.
Mommy was glad that Gwenneth got along fine with Dr Low and looks like we would be seeing Dr Low for all their routine immunisation. DiDi has a slight wave of fever after the injection but was fine after one dosage of medication
Mommy went on a cruise with her BFF and came home to realise that DiDi was running a fever for the past 2 days and no one told her about it! Por Por thought that he was warm on his forehead but his body was fine. I came home and tested on the trusted braun thermometer and he was indeed running a fever. I gave him medication as usual and his fever came down a little. Mommy nursed the little fella the whole night with tender loving care but his fever came up really high the next morning at 38.4 degrees just before Mommy and Daddy had to leave for a important work appointment. We drove DiDi to consult Dr Lee and decided to run a urine test to rule out urine infection. Uncle Ryan was activated to stay by Reyes's side to wait for the urine test result while Mommy rushed off to meet a client with Daddy for 2hours. Mommy and Daddy then came back to the hospital to fetch baby Reyes home when the result was negative. We decided to let Reyes rest and get well on medication in the comfort of our own home. He was expected to break out in rash and would be soon on the road of recovery in 2 days. Reyes is well and happy once again. Mommy felt sorry and wondered if this was all because Reyes was not on exclusive breastfeeding.
Reyes tries swimming for the first time!
Mommy tries to bring Reyes out along whenever possible though the logistics is a real .... sigh.
A army full pack of milk formula, hot water flask, extra change of clothes, wet wipes, diapers, miscellaneous and 2 strollers! The Combi Miracle turn served us well for a long time with Gwenneth. It was really light and went along with us on our first trip with baby to Australia when Gwenneth was 10 months old. Mommy contemplated for the longest time if she should get another stroller that would suit our needs for now, as Gwenneth couldnt sleep properly on the Thomas stroller which cannot recline fully. The Combi does, but the light frame cannot support the little toddler in time to come. Gwenneth also kicked a big fuss that DiDi is sitting on HER stroller.
So okay. It was time to part with some money and buy yet another stroller. We bought the Maclaren XT . Now we are going everywhere with it!
I think it is something to do with the canopy shade which she thinks its fun and of course, the comfort of a roomy seat.
I think we might have 2. The SAME.
